I agree with the post below. George Washington Memorial Park in Paramus, where my family is buried, has a similar policy, although it's not posted. Both cemeteries are beautiful, well maintained and
provide a peaceful and restful environment.Added May 17, 2017 by Cal Bickford - ★ ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆
I am not familiar with all rules and regulations with cemeteries - but this place is the most rigid, unfeeling, unfriendly and off-putting place Ive ever run across. I am seriously considering having my father exhumed and moved to a place closer to all of us, his family, and away from those people with their complete draconian attitudes regarding special requests for burial, tombstones, flowers and memorial displays, etc.
Just driving into the main gate - there is usually a BIG sign saying "ALL FLOWERS OR > ITEMS MUST BE REMOVED BY X DATE". What a nice welcome when you travel (sometimes a great distance) to visit and pay respects to your loved ones.
How unfeeling - how un-Christ-like! I feel sorry for the people who run that cemetery - because they must have tombstones for hearts. Pray for them - and bury your loved ones elsewhere !!!Added February 25, 2017 by A Google User - ★ ★ ★ ★ ★
I went there to visit the grave of Alice Guy-Blaché, the first film director in history. Not having any idea where the grave was, I went into the office, where the woman behind the desk was the most lovely person you could meet, looking up and showing me, in detail, where the grave was on a map and happily re-answered questions I had repeated for certainty. having never been before. The graveyard itself indeed looks like a spectacularly maintained park, it was among the best-maintained I have yet seen.

I was very upset by the below post. Yes Maryrest does have rules regarding flowers and items being removed, but it makes the cemetery a more beautiful place. The cemetery is gorgous. I was 11 when my father died and was buried there and still go multiple times to visit. It is so beautiful, you feel like you are in a park rather than a cemetery. I have spent countless hours there remembering my father and rehishing the grounds. They remove the items so the place remains nice and makes the experience a more enjoyable one. Who wants to go to a cemetery and see dead flowers around when the place is not taken care of. Instead of worring about the large sign (which by the way is not that large), I would rather spend my time in a peaceful place that allows me to enjoy the beauty God has given us. Maryrest may be a little strict when it comes to the policy of flowers, but it makes the whole place better. I am so glad my father is buried there and would recommend it to anyone who would like a tranquil environment for their loved ones.
